My baby is starting school.........

I can't believe it, I thought I had another year with her home, watching her grow, I was wrong. I didn't realize the if your child is turning 4 before December 31st, and they don't start JK they will automatically be put in SK the following year. I really don't like this, you know if your child is ready and most JK'ers are 4 turning 5, I really think you should have a choice on when they begin. My oldest DD was in the same boat, but there was no doubt in my mind she was ready at 3 to start school, and she has excelled, but my little V is so timid and babyish still and TINY, I am worried about her.
What if the bus crashes, she doesn't even weigh 30 pounds, she will be thrown for sure, I think this is what scaring me the most, she is so small, I think a year of growth physically more than anything is needed, I really want to fight with someone and ask to have an option, but I don't want to hold her back, I know she's smart, I know she'll makes friends, I know she needs to grow up and start school, I just wish I had more than a week to prepare myself for it, and that babies could stay babies for awhile longer. Whatever happened to the days of old when you were 5 starting into Kindergarten? That was me 5 and ready, here's to hoping the first day goes easily for both of us!!!!

Hugs Kimmie!! Everything will work out great!! She will love it and there isnt anything to worry about! Is it full days or half days or part time?

Huge hugs Kimmie. I can't imagine sending a child to school that young!
In NS our kids don't start school until they are 5 (before Oct 1). With Tasha birthday being Dec 31 she will be closer to 6 when she starts.

Here you don't start K until you turn five or at least have to turn five before Dec 31st. Perhaps you could drive her to school rather than have her take the bus if that would make you feel better. I think I'd be worried about my kiddos taking the bus and they're almost 7. ;) Big hugs Kimmie!!

Hugs Kimmie!! Ethan also started K at 4 yrs old - but he did turn 5 soon after... I thought the same thing - he is way too little to start school!! But he was beyond ready. And he loved every minute of it. Now, taking the bus... I am not too sure about that one either!! She does sound awfully little for that... Why do we have to let them grow up?? Sniff....
